Police say a 7-year-old boy's leg was grazed by a bullet Wednesday while he was walking with his grandmother in Mott Haven.
It happened at 600 East 137th St. at the Millbrook Houses around 12:30 p.m.
Police say a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants fired multiple shots from a revolver toward the building, missing the grandmother but grazing the boy's leg.
Officials say there were two people standing in front of the building at the time of the shooting but their involvement is unknown.
They say the suspect ran toward East 137th Street then onto Cypress Avenue before getting on the No. 6 train at the Cypress Avenue subway station.
Police in the area at the time of the shooting tell News 12 it sounded like two different guns were fired. They are investigating whether there was another gunman.
Surveillance video from across the street shows a man who may be responsible for the shooting. Police have not confirmed if this person is a suspect but he does match the description and is running in a direction consistent with their investigation. The man also appears to have a gun in his hand.
Police say the boy was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and is in stable condition.
