The owner of a Brentwood day care center is facing sex abuse charges for allegedly abusing a 7-year-old girl who attended the center.
Police say Jose Flores ran a day care called Little Sponges out of his Brentwood house. They say they arrested Flores Friday afternoon for allegedly sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl who attended the day care.
After he was arrested, the Office of Family and Child Services shut the day care down. The 56-year-old was then taken to the hospital for a medical condition.
Flores was taken to court Saturday where he pleaded not guilty to sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Prosecutors say that Flores had told the 7 year-old girl to sit on his lap and then he inappropriately touched her.

Flores' family was at court Saturday, but declined to speak with News 12.
Neighbors says they see kids come and go from the day care and everything seemed normal at the house.
A judge issued an order of protection for Flores to stay away from the girl.
Police are urging anyone else who may be a victim to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
