Police: Burglar targeted fire-damaged home
A burglar targeted a Throgs Neck house after it was damaged in a fire, police say.
Joseph Manno says his house's second floor went up in flames Monday. Investigators say the fire was accidental and possibly caused by an electrical problem.
At 4 a.m. following the fire, residents say someone entered the house and stole TVs, Xboxes and jewelry.
One resident says she believes she recognizes a man caught by security cameras as the burglar. Manno says he was able to recover some of the stolen items from this man's girlfriend.
Police would not confirm the name of the suspect, but say they are investigating leads.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help them get back on their feet.
