Police clear scene in Edenwald after false alarm

Police barricaded a home on East 221st Street after responding to what they thought was a possible dangerous situation on Thursday.

Police barricaded a home on East 221st Street after responding to what they thought was a possible dangerous situation on Thursday.
Neighbors were barred from walking down the street and cars were blocked off from 221st Street due to the commotion at an apartment building on the block.
Police say there was a lot of chatter about a possible dangerous situation at the building around 4:45 p.m. When police entered, they said they discovered the claims to be unfounded.
Dozens of police officers were staking out the home and an armored vehicle was also parked out front.
News 12 spotted two hostage negotiators on scene and a K-9 unit. Some of the officers had on SWAT gear.
Police eventually cleared the scene.
