Police say a driver hit and killed a woman pedestrian in Sheepshead Bay Wednesday.

Investigators say it happened just before 5 p.m. on Ocean and Emmons avenues. They say a 65-year-old woman was walking across Ocean Avenue when a driver hit her and left her there to die.

The victim suffered severe trauma to her body and was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island where she was pronounced dead, investigators say.

Authorities are withholding her name until they are able to notify family. They also have not yet identified the car responsible for the woman's death.
