Police: Driver who struck teen was under influence of narcotics
Police have confirmed that the driver of a U-Haul truck that struck a teenager in Hunts Point on Friday was under the influence of a narcotic pain reliever at the time of the accident.
Authorities say the 36-year-old driver also had a suspended license.
The truck hit 17-year-old Amaru Millin, who was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition.
"At this time I would love for everyone to respect the family's privacy because he is in very critical condition right now," Millin's mother said in a statement. "I request that the person responsible for this accident gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
