Authorities say there was an exchange of gunfire Tuesday after officers responded to a commotion outside a building in Morissania.
Officials say they were on routine patrol when they got involved in an altercation that spilled onto the street at 862 164th St.
They say there were four suspects involved and that one of them had a gun. After an exchange of gunfire, police say one of the suspects was wounded from a bullet with a graze to the right hip and left knee.
The suspects then started to run and plainclothes officers ordered them to stop. The officers chased the suspects from Rev. James Polite Avenue to Intervale.
They say two suspects are in custody. They are searching for the other two. One of the suspects who has not been found may have been the one who was injured.
Police recovered a gun at the scene.
