A teacher with the Hewlett-Woodmere School District is accused of sexual abuse while working upstate as a camp counselor.
Police say Dylan T. Stolz, 51, of Little Neck, was charged with five counts of sexual abuse.
The charges stem from an investigation after officials received complaints at Brant Lake Camp in Brant Lake, New York. Stolz has been a camp counselor at the location for the past 33 summers.
Police say Stolz inappropriately touched five boys, all younger than 11 years old. He was arraigned and is being held on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
The Hewlett-Woodmere School District website says Stolz is a fourth-grade teacher at Ogden Elementary. He also co-chairs the Technology Committee and is a PTA teacher representative.
The school district says it's taken appropriate and responsible action to address this matter, saying in a statement: "The Hewlett-Woodmere School District immediately placed this individual on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of this matter."
News 12 reached out to Brant Lake Camp for a comment but hasn't heard back.
Nassau police say they have not received any complaints about Stolz. They are urging anyone who may have been a victim to contact authorities.
