Police are searching for a man they say violently attacked and robbed another man while he was trying to hail a cab.

The incident happened at Grand Concourse and East 183rd Street around 4:40 a.m. on Jan. 28.

Surveillance video released by police shows the man who they say continuously punched the 25-year-old. They say the suspect even pushed him to the ground and into a parked car.

Officials say the suspect stole the victim's gold necklace.

Police say the suspect is 25 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall with facial hair.
