Brookfield police say a man has died after being found underwater Thursday.

It happened on North Lake Shore Drive around 6:30 p.m.

Police say 76-year-old Wayne Pogers was working on his boat and doing other chores in his backyard. His wife became concerned when she had not heard from him and called 911.

Officers found Pogers next to the boat in Candlewood Lake in about 8 feet of water.

Pogers was transported to Danbury Hospital, where he later died.
