The hunt is on for the man police say broke into a 16-year-old’s bedroom while she was sleeping.
According to police, the 16-year-old girl woke up to a man she had never seen before standing over her just before 4 a.m. Monday.
Police say he had climbed the fire escape and entered through the window of her Longwood apartment.
Then they say the suspect grabbed the teen’s hand and put it over his genital area above his clothing.
When the victim pulled her hand away in retaliation, News 12 is told the suspect fled the scene.
A friend of the family described described that 16-year-old girl as smart and articulate. She says her mother is still understandably upset.
Police say the suspect didn’t take anything from the home and no physical injuries were reported.
The suspect was caught on surveillance video walking down the block from the victim's home.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
