Police say a man was struck and killed by a vehicle near the Cross Bronx Expressway.
They say Jose Contreras, 63, was trying to cross Webster Avenue around 1:30 a.m.
Police say that is when he was struck by a driver in a black SUV who then fled.
Contreras suffered severe trauma to his body.
He was taken St. Barnabas Hospital, where he later died.
