Police say they're searching for a man wanted in connection to a violent robbery in Tremont back on Jan. 23.
Surveillance video shows the man knocking on the door of an apartment near East 175th Street and Crotona Park North.
Officials say when the 73-year-old man living there opened the door, the suspect forced his way in and took a knife from the kitchen. The suspect then slashed at the victim's arms and hands while demanding money.
Police say the suspect then went to the man's bedroom where he removed $2,000 from under the mattress, along with a cellphone and landline phone before escaping.
The victim, a veteran, says only two other people knew about the money he was keeping in his room.
