Police say a masked intruder got into an apartment building through an open door before a brutal sexual assault in the Pelham Parkway section of the borough.
Police say the attack happened inside the victim’s apartment on Cruger Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
There was a visible police presence outside and inside the Pelham Parkway building where detectives went door to door, asking neighbors if they saw or heard anything.
The building has a security camera pointing at the front entrance and two in the lobby.
Emerald Management, which manages the property, says the building’s cameras are working and that it’s assisting the NYPD in the investigation.
The management company is reminding tenants not to ring in strangers or leave the lobby door open.
