Police in Somerset County are hoping to identify a man who has been running around town naked and peering into people’s windows.
Hillsborough police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect, who is seen shirtless and seems to be wearing a mask and wig. He was also seen wearing black shoes.
Police say that while the situation may seem funny, they are not laughing. They say they are worried that the suspect may be dangerous or possibly mentally ill.
“If the person’s not all there, that is a fear of ours,” says Hillsborough Police Detective Hank Olszyk.
Police say around 10 p.m. on Sept. 14, a home surveillance camera on Triangle Road got a shot of the man. A few weeks later, a woman saw a naked man creeping outside her Meadowbrook Drive home, only wearing shoes, a wig and bandana. Police believe that these incidents are related.
But police say that there have been other incidents that may or not be related. A man last month allegedly exposed himself to a woman who lived in townhouses in town. And there were reports of another naked man in July.
"The goal is that somebody would see him and say something or an officer would stop a lone male and talk to him and ID the person so we could further investigate,” says Olszky.
Anyone who may have any information about the incidents is asked to contact Somerset County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-577-TIPS or by going to the anonymous tips website.
