Police say an employee at Party City in Throgs Neck was slashed in the face Thursday.

The incident occurred at the store off the Hutchinson River Parkway just before 2 p.m.

Police say an employee was working inside the store when another man came in and slashed the left side of his face. That suspect then ran off.

There was no word on what weapon the attacker used or a motive for the attack. No arrests have been made.

The unnamed victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK.

The store was closed for the rest of the day. 

Party City released a statement that said in part: “The safety of our team members is our top priority and we were shocked by this senseless act of violence…Our thoughts are with our team member during this time.”
