Someone fired a pellet gun at a mosque in Mott Haven Monday night, according to police.
Officials say there were three separate incidents in which the shots were fired at the mosque, located on Alexander Avenue. They say the projectiles hit a man outside, another struck a window while people were praying and the building was hit again while people were praying outside.
The local imam says he wants people to realize that people who worship at the mosque are peaceful, and that they shouldn't be scared.
"We don't want anybody to be hurt," he says. "We have our kids around here so we don't want the kids to be hurt."
