The body of a woman was discovered bound along Glenville Road in Greenwich Tuesday, prompting a homicide investigation, officials say.
The woman's body was discovered in a suitcase by town highway workers off of Glenville Road just north of Stillman Lane around 8:15 a.m.
Police tweeted around 9 a.m. that the road would be closed due to a police investigation.
Around 10:20 a.m. police sent out a news release and confirmed they were investigating the death of a person found alongside the road, according to Public Information Officer Lt. John Slusarz.

During a news conference at 12 p.m. police announced the investigation was being treated as a homicide. They say the woman, who is believed to be between 18-30 years old, was fully clothed with her hands bound and was found in a heavily wooded area just off of the road.
"It wasn't committed right there, the death was not right in that location," says Greenwich Police Capt. Robert Berry. "Where the actual death took place, we don't know at this time."
Chopper 12 was over the scene Tuesday as police were investigating. At a 4 p.m. news conference, police said the body was removed from the area and the crime scene was cleared.
Police say Glenville Road reopened around 4:30 p.m.
"It's so close by the community, it's just a tragedy, and we passed it this morning, it's really sad," says Christina Ferrandino, a mother who works in Greenwich.
Greenwich police are encouraging anyone with information to call their anonymous tip line at 203-622-3333.
