Patrons of a popular kosher restaurant in Riverdale are sad to learn the owner of the establishment might sell his business.
Dmitriy Berezovskiy, the owner of K Grill House, says he’s thinking about selling the upscale steakhouse because of the difficult kosher laws imposed by the local Vaad.
Vaad limits what the establishment can and cannot sell under kosher guidelines. Berezovkiy says he wants to be able to cater to both kosher patrons and also those who do not follow kosher laws.
"I love this place," he says. "I hope this restaurant is going to stay forever because people like it."
Customers say they would be sad to see it go.
"This restaurant is community. It's like Rick's in the movie Casablanca. It's like where people come, it's the neighborhood living room. It's the place to be with people you know, friends and it would be a tragedy if this place doesn't exist," one man says.
