Prayer vigils held at Bronx precincts to show support for NYPD
Bronx residents gathered to hold vigils at NYPD precincts in the borough Sunday to pray and show their support for NYPD officers.
In light of the recent shootings involving police in the U.S., Bishop Fernando Rodriguez, members of the Latin American Chaplains and other local churches came out to offer their thanks and prayers to officers.
"We need to find a better way to love one another to protect our community," says Bishop Rodriguez. "This is our Bronx, this is our borough, we need to stand together 'cause together we are stronger than divided."
Members of the community say they believe that showing support for the officers is important and is a positive step toward healing those affected by the recent tragedies.
