A proposal to turn an abandoned building in Wakefield into supportive housing will move forward after the local community board voted 16-2 in support of it Thursday.
Six members abstained from voting.
The Doe Fund, a nonprofit organization, has proposed a plan to provide supportive housing for veterans in the currently abandoned Mueller building located on Nereid Avenue .
Residents gathered at the Community Board 12 meeting to discuss and vote on the proposal. They say they are concerned because the building is blocks away from Ana's House, a homeless shelter that houses 100 single men.
The Doe Fund also attended the meeting, requesting a letter of support from the community board.
