Parents and staff are at odds at a Parkchester elementary school after police were called in amid a dispute between a PTA president and a veteran teacher.
According to parents, police were called to P.S. 106 last Thursday after PTA President Monica Harris and first-grade teacher Shelly Spinger got into a verbal altercation inside the school.
Parents say the next day, Harris distributed fliers calling for a special meeting to possibly remove Spinger, who has taught at the school for more than 20 years.
The bickering, which has led to allegations of racism and threats, has left some parents calling for a serious "time-out."
"This is not handling things professionally between the teachers and the parents," says parent Lisa Carr.
The meeting that Harris had called for was scheduled for Monday, but has not yet happened.
