Rabbits, groundhogs disagree on early spring
The Belmont Community Day Care Center didn't have groundhogs, so staff once again brought out rabbits to predict whether spring would come early.
Tuesday was the center's third annual Hare Hog Day ceremony.
Day care organizers claim that if the rabbits are scared off by their shadows there will be six more weeks of winter -- same as groundhogs.
The center also let children play with parrots and turtles as part of the day of hands-on activities.
The rabbits predicted six more weeks of winter this year, but the much-publicized groundhogs in Philadelphia and Staten Island predicted an early spring.
