Rapper Cardi B surrenders to police on assault charges
Rapper Cardi B surrendered to police at the 109th Precinct in Queens Monday on assault charges, officials say.
The 26-year-old faces misdemeanor charges in connection to an assault involving two bartenders at a Queens strip club on Aug. 29.
Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, ordered an assault on two sister bartenders at Angels strip club after they allegedly slept with her husband and fellow rapper Offset, who performed inside the club with his group Migo according to TMZ.
They also say multiple people were throwing items in the club including bottles, chairs, and hookahs but said Cardi B's name isn't in the police report.
"We're aware of no evidence that she caused anybody any harm at the club that night," says her lawyer, Jeff Kern. "We expect that the matter's going to be resolved expeditiously."
Two weeks after that incident, Cardi B reportedly got into a fight with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj at a New York Fashion Week party in Manhattan.
Some fans at the precinct say they were excited to see her but say she needs to show a good example for her child.
Police say she received a return date to appear at Queens criminal court on Oct. 29.
