The rapper known for his hit 'Panda' surprised staff and patients at Brookdale Hospital and got to meet up with some students doing community service Friday.
Rapper Designer was back in his hometown and made the day of a group of fifth-graders who were visiting the hospital.
"The greatest moments…everything that happened to me as a kid being in Brooklyn it was just amazing, you know - the days on the stoop chilling with your homeboys getting a sub," said Designer.
Designer, who was shot in the hip at 14, made sure to tell the kids that they can and should do better. He said he was not doing the right things at the time he was shot.
After meeting the kids, Designer stopped in at Brookdale Hospital. He passed out $40 to the young patients and put a smile on everyone's face.
He visited Mackiya Mercer, who lost her leg after being hit by a train.
"I'm here just to give her motivation, give her hope," said Designer.
Mercer said she loves him and his music. He even gave her his phone number so they could stay in touch.
