Relatives of upcoming Hollywood film subject who graduated from Bronx HS speak to students
Students at Hallows High School learned about their connection with an upcoming Hollywood movie Thursday.
"Bridge of Spies," set to hit theaters on Oct. 16, tells the story of James Donovan's involvement in the release of an American spy plane pilot who was shot down over the Soviet Union during the Cold War in 1960.
Donovan, who is portrayed by Tom Hanks in the film, graduated from All Hallows in 1933.
Donovan's son and granddaughter spoke to Hallows students Thursday. Students say they were inspired by Donovan's story.
"There's someone to look up to. There's a bigger world than just the South Bronx we can learn more about," says All Hallows senior Anthony Salas.
