Resident heads to Nepal to help in relief efforts
A Bronx resident is heading to Nepal for a month to help people affected by the recent earthquakes.
Parkchester resident Raul Nunez will be one of less than a dozen American Red Cross staff members to travel to the country.
In the past, he has traveled to Haiti and the Philippines, and says his past trips have helped prepare for what's to come in Nepal.
"I will be doing something similar, but no two disasters are alike, so I am sure this is going to come with its own unique challenges and tasks," he says.
As a regional director, Nunez will be handing out critical supplies in Nepal, including tarps and building tools.
Nunez leaves today for Washington, D.C. where he will be briefed. He then heads to Nepal for a month.
