Resident: Uprooted tree complaints unheard by city
A Bronx resident says he has been complaining to the city for six years about an uprooted tree in front of his home that has destroyed his sidewalk and driveway.
Juan Martinez says the tree has made it difficult for himself and his neighbors to walk on his Soundview road.
Martinez says no one has helped him. In fact, he claims the city has told him that if he damages or cuts the tree down, he could face a fine of up to $10,000.
The roots have even grown so far that Martinez says they broke his sewer line, costing him $11,000 to fix.
The Department of Parks and Recreation says the site was inspected in 2013 and, at this time, the department is evaluating what can be done about the situation.
