Residents and business leaders are suggesting different stores that could possibly replace the almost shuttered Saks Off 5th store in Baychester.
The store, which has a few months left in business before closing for good, opened almost two years ago.
Some customers say they would like to see a children's clothing store or a restaurant. Some business leaders in the Bronx say they would like to see a return to what it was before Saks Off 5th moved in.
Lisa Sorin, president of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, says in a statement, "The Bronx elected officials, residents, and the Chamber fought hard to keep Barnes and Noble in our borough... The BIG ask: A National Bookstore deserved by all who live, work, and play in this great borough."
Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation President Marlene Cintron says she would like to see an Apple store, as the Bronx is the only borough in the city without one.
According to store officials, Saks Off 5th will be out of the Bronx by October of this year.
