Nearly a year after a fire destroyed a laundromat on Webster Avenue, customers say the business is not living up to the promise it made.

Hours before the massive fire broke out, Jamar Owens was inside the laundromat handing over his Department of Sanitation uniforms and clothes to be washed. He says the clothing is valued at $500 and was destroyed in the fire.
Owen says the manager and owner of the laundromat promised to reimburse him.

A sign hangs where the laundromat once stood, echoing the pledge to compensate customers for their belongings when an insurance settlement is reached. But there's no information included about how customers can follow up.
News 12 called the number listed for the address on the Better Business Bureau's website and spoke with a man who says he sold the business years ago.
Real estate representatives for the property told News 12 they'd pass along the inquiry to an e-mail address they have on file. So far, there has not been a response.

News 12 also reached out to the city's Department of Consumer Affairs but has not heard back.
