Officials are offering a $1,500 reward to help find a hit-and-run driver who severely injured a child in Watchung.
Police say a 12-year-old boy was struck by a car while he walking near his home on Valley Road on Oct. 8 at 6:45 p.m. The driver of the vehicle then sped off, leaving the injured child with broken bones and other injuries.
Detective Lt. Scott Anderle of the Watchung Police Department says the boy has been upgraded to stable condition after multiple surgeries.
Police have described the vehicle as a white Hyundai Sonata made between the model years of 2010 and 2014. They also say it may have front-end damage and is missing the Hyundai emblem.
Somerset County Crime Stoppers is offering the reward to information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
