Rescue crews in Ridgefield responded to a call for a deer that fell through ice Wednesday afternoon.
It happened at the Overpeck Creek. When they arrived, the crew found the deer struggling to stay afloat.
"We utilized our boat, put it in the water and rode out to the deer," says Edward Schaefer, of the Ridgefield Fire Department. "We were able to lasso the deer's front legs and row back to shore and bring him back to the brush."
Officials says the deer is exhausted but is expected to survive.
