Robots and princesses are coming together in a comic book penned by a local author.
Todd Matthy says his love of comics and working at a school inspired him to create his latest adventure.
"I always had a good imagination, and I like telling stories and feel like they're stories I want to see but no one can do it unless I do it," says Matthy.
The special education teacher has created the comic series "Robots vs. Princesses."
"Robots vs. Princesses is what you get when you mix Disney with a transformer. It's about a princess named Zara who wants to find a dragon and she finds a giant robot. Unfortunately, the robot is a defector from an evil robot army," says Matthy.
Matthy says he penned the idea when he was a substitute teacher. Students were coloring pages of robots and princesses and he decided to combine the two.
"The wheels started turning in my head; I started asking questions like how they met, what separated them," says Matthy.
Robots vs. Princesses is four issues, and Matthy says a graphic novel featuring all four stories is being released next week.
Matthy, who has been writing for years, says it is all a dream come true to work with a publisher.
"It's a high you could not imagine," says Matthy.
He says he recently had a table at Comic Con to introduce the world to Robots vs. Princesses.
