Pedestrian and traffic safety improvements are coming to the Van Nest and Morris Park neighborhoods.
The city Department of Transportation will be installing additional lighting to existing street lamps on Bronxdale Avenue from Tremont to Van Nest avenues.
In September 2016, community activist John Doyle requested that the DOT make changes to help improve visibility along the curve of Bronxdale Avenue for both drivers and pedestrians.
There were also new speed bumps put in two months ago on Rhinelander Avenue between Eastchester Road and Stillwell Avenue in Morris Park.
More safety measures could be in the works, as community advocates are looking to put lighting under the train tracks.
The extra street lighting along Bronxdale Avenue is expected to be installed sometime in the fall.
