Bronx residents flocked to Saint Mary's Park for a performance from salsa legend, La India.
The singer was raised in the South Bronx and has worked with music industry veterans like Marc Anthony and Celia Cruz.
Some fans got to the park as early as 1 p.m. for the evening's concert. They say that La India has represented the Bronx beautifully and are proud of her.
La India started the concert off by thanking the community that believed in her at the very beginning of her career.
"It started here in the south Bronx when people would hear me sing," La India said. "And they were my number one fans."
La India's performance was part of the borough's City Park’s SummerStage Festival concert series that is completely free to the public. The next free concert will feature Jadakiss. It will be held in Tremont Park in August.
