Services continue for Morris Park crash victims
Funeral services were held Wednesday for one of the three victims of a crash in Morris Park on Halloween.
Kristian Leka, 24, Louis Perez, 65, and his granddaughter Nyanna Aquil, 10, were killed Saturday when a Dodge Charger hopped the curb and struck a group of trick-or-treaters.
A funeral procession for Leka culminated with a Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Shkodra Church in Hartsdale, Westchester County. He was buried immediately after.
Witnesses say Leka was walking with his girlfriend and his 9-year-old sister. They say he managed to push them to safety before the out-of-control car struck him.
His family says he was a truck driver for six years and an avid sports fan. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx.
Leka was a member of the tight-knit Bronx Albanian community. Family friends say he had plans to become engaged to his girlfriend, who sustained an arm injury in the accident.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, which may have involved the driver of that out-of-control car having a seizure.
Services for Perez and Aquil will begin on Friday with wakes at McNulty Funeral Home on Middletown Road from 3 to 8 p.m.
A funeral for the two will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harvest Fields Community Church on East Tremont Avenue. Aquil's family asks that attendees wear sky blue in honor of her.
