Several families displaced after Wakefield building fire
Several families were displaced when a Wakefield apartment building went up in flames over the weekend, and the building’s faulty electrical wiring is being blamed as the cause.
The fire broke out on 4769 White Plains Road, starting on the sixth floor and spreading to multiple apartments. It left a giant hole on the roof of the building.
Residents of the building say it has had electrical problems in the past. They say they’ve been complaining of electrical problems for years.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, but 16 adults and eight children were displaced.
The Red Cross is providing shelter for residents who were displaced. Contractors tell News 12 that some residents in the building are without power.
