Shoppers look for back-to-school deals
With less than two weeks before the beginning of the school year, News 12 stopped by some supply stores to help shoppers figure out where to buy the items on their lists.
Every year residents visit chain stores like Staples, Tannens stationery and even mom-and-pop shops to find back-to-school bargains.
Local Tannens owner David Greenberg says the prices at his store are competitive. Many customers agreed.
Staples says the back-to-school season is its busiest time of the year. The store even has a special back-to-school central section filled with the top 30 supplies all students need.
Staples says the one thing that sets it apart from its competitors is that it has a 110 percent price-match guarantee.
Joanna Pena, a general manager at Staples, says if parents find more affordable school supplies anywhere else, the store will match the price and give them an additional 10 percent off.
Customers say the prices for school supplies are similar at different locations. They take comfort in the variety of choices offered.
