Sinkhole traps bus carrying special-needs kids
A bus carrying 10 children with special needs fell into a sinkhole Thursday.
The driver called parents, who rushed to Creston Avenue between East 181st Street and Burnside Avenue to pick up their children.
The bus was on its way to drop off the children after their summer school program when the street crumpled beneath the bus, trapping the rear driver-side wheel and causing the vehicle to tip dangerously, officials say.
Officials say no one was hurt in the accident.
The road was shut down in both directions as DEP crews removed the bus from the hole and assessed the damage.
