A local organization is helping adults with autism find jobs, homes and a support community.
With a growing number of New Yorkers living with autism, an organization called Therapeutic Outreach Uniting Community Health New York State has stepped in to help. The TOUCH NYS webpage helps people with disabilities connect to the services available for them, free of charge.
"We wanted to help individuals who are receiving services self-direct their lives and become as independent as possible," said Alex Dimaio, statewide coordinator of the TOUCH NYS website.
Since April, TOUCH NYS has helped 200 New Yorkers with developmental disabilities and their advocates.
