City cleans polluted Mott Haven walkway

An unsightly pile of trash under a Mott Haven overpass has finally been cleaned up after weeks of complaints, residents say.
The walkway, at East 135th Street and Alexander Avenue, hadn't been cleaned for some time, according to neighbors. A homeless person was also discovered sleeping there.
News 12 visited the scene last month, and after airing a report on the issue, the city's Department of Transportation cleaned the walkway.
The DOT says it washes the area several times a year, but neighbors say the cleanings aren't frequent enough.
