Missing mother of 2 found dead inside park
A mother of two from Mount Vernon who was reported missing for a week was found dead Friday night in the Bronx, according to family members.
Police say they believe 27-year-old Ashley McDuffie was killed at her home on Kingsbridge Street by her boyfriend, Jason Meyers, who then dumped her in Seton Falls Park in the Bronx.
Mount Vernon police say Jason Meyers is now in custody after turning himself in Friday night and confessing to the murder.
McDuffie, a mother of two children between ages 3 and 6, was reported missing on Aug. 24 and found in the park on Friday around 8 p.m.
Neighbors say McDuffie had just moved into her Kingsbridge Street home a few weeks ago.
Meyers is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday to determine the cause of death.
