City pools and beaches remain open for hot weekend temperatures

Bronx residents flocked to the swimming pool Friday as another hot and humid day blanketed the area.

Residents were still enjoying the city's many pools, like the Van Cortlandt Park swimming pool, which extended its hours until Sunday.

Orchard Beach in the Bronx was also packed with residents Thursday who were hoping to soak up some of the summer sun's last rays.

News 12 Meteorologist Mike Favetta says it was the first time on record that the temperature reached 80 degrees in the morning during the month of September.

Both city pools and beaches will be open until Sunday, Sept. 11.
