Crotona Parkway tenant finds rat dangling from ceiling

A tenant in a Crotona Parkway apartment says she has a big rodent problem.

Shamoane Bailey says she and her daughter woke up to the rodent dangling from their ceiling Monday morning.

"It's so disgusting, I can't even explain how disgusting it is," she says.

Bailey says it was the first rat she has seen in her apartment, but she has heard vermin in her walls for months.

"You hear them at night," she says. "Squeaking, banging, scratching."

Bailey says she has reached out to building management several times over the past few days, but nothing has been done. She says she won't give up until action is taken.

"I'm complaining about this because I can't live like this," she says.

News 12 has reached out the building's management and is waiting to hear back.
