An 84-year-old woman in the Bronx was robbed of her purse while waiting for the bus.
It happened Wednesday morning at a bus stop on East 174th Street. The suspect was later captured on surveillance video, in which he can be seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
Police say the man in red took the victim's purse and ran into a nearby apartment building where another suspect, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt, was waiting. Both eventually disappeared into the building.
A family friend of the victim, who goes by Mrs. Reyes, says her nephew called police when he heard her screams.
The latest incident comes after two other similar ones in the borough. One involved a 72-year-old woman getting her purse stolen and being struck in the face while walking near Van Cortlandt Avenue. Another involved an 86-year-old woman whose handbag was snatched while she sat in her wheelchair.
In all three cases, only one suspect has so far been identified.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
