Video released of man who stole 73-year-old woman’s purse

Police have released surveillance video of a man they say stole a 73-year-old woman's purse in the Bronx.

It happened on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. on Grant Avenue and East 165th Street.

The woman wished not to be identified, but told News 12 she was only yards away from her home standing with her walker when the suspect walked up to her, grabbed her purse and then ran away.

Police say crimes against seniors in the city are up more than 8 percent compared to last year.

They say the man got away with about $50.

He is described as being 6'1'' tall and weighing 180 pounds. Police say he was last seen wearing a red shirt, black pants and black sneakers.

The woman was not injured, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
