Bronx mom claims son was hurt at day care

A Bronx mother says her son was hurt while at a day care and that staff members say they don't know what happened.
Ashley Williams tells News 12 that her 1-year-old son Hunter's lip was split open Tuesday at the Brightside Academy on Intervale Avenue.
When Williams asked staff members what happened, they told her they didn't know. The 1-year-old boy required two stiches, a tetanus shot and antibiotics because the cut was infected.
An incident report filled out by staff at the Brightside Academy states the day care workers only applied ice to the boy's lip.
The day care released a statement saying, "We are aware of the allegations made by the mother of a one-year-old who attends our Intervale Avenue center. We are conducting a thorough internal inquiry into this matter and, if warranted, will take appropriate actions. We have not been contacted by the ACS or any other authorities, but in the event that we are, we will cooperate fully."
Williams says she has removed her son from the day care program and is taking legal action against the facility.
