8 injured in crash between bus, car on Bruckner Expressway

A school bus carrying children overturned after a crash Wednesday on the Bruckner Expressway, injuring eight people, officials say.

Emergency responders say the bus collided with a car near Exit 6 at the I-95 interchange in Throgs Neck around 1 p.m.

They say eight people, including five students from P.S. 114, suffered minor injuries. All of the injured were taken to Jacobi Medical Center.

The Department of Education issued a statement saying, "The NYPD responded to a bus incident that took place in the Bronx. No major injuries were sustained and we are providing families with additional supports. The safety and security of students and staff is our top priority."

Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash.
