NYPD: Drug bust nets 22 arrests
Twenty-two people have been arrested in a Bronx drug bust, according to investigators.
The "Flybridge Crew" is accused of operating a violent drug-trafficking ring. Members used pseudonyms like "Fresh," "Psycho" and "Sweat Pea."
The U.S. Attorney's office, the FBI and the NYPD took part in the investigation. They accuse the group of selling cocaine, heroin, oxycodone and marijuana in Highbridge since at least 2014.
In a 16-page indictment, prosecutors say the group operated out of a base area around 165th Street and Woodycrest Avenue. The group allegedly distributed drugs daily at restaurants, convenience stores and apartment buildings.
"The defendants treated a segment of the Highbridge section of the Bronx as their own supermarket for illegal drugs," says NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill. "This drug activity went hand-in-hand with illegal firearms and associated violence."
Also in the indictment are allegations that one member tried to kill another over a drug debt.
