69-year-old woman found stabbed to death inside Bronx home

Investigators say a 69-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her Cranford Avenue home Sunday morning.
Firefighters responding to reports of a gas leak discovered the body of Lilawatee Ramsaran in her living room around 9:30 a.m. They say she had sustained multiple stab wounds.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police sources say it appeared someone tampered with her stove and lit candles in the building.
Her grandson, Andy Samuel, 25, described Ramsaran as a nice person. Police say she owned the home and began renting out a room after her son died in a motorcycle accident 10 years ago.
They did not say if anyone else was inside the building when her body was discovered, but they say it was a tenant who reported the gas leak.
Neighbors say Ramsaran was a native of Trinidad. Family members say she often returned there to a second home to avoid cooler temperatures.
Neighbors reported hearing people arguing at her home on Saturday night, which they noted was odd.
No arrests have been made.
